In 2021, I completed my master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I practice from a trauma-informed, person-centred approach often incorporating aspects of EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as elements of Somatic Therapy.

In working with clients, I draw on these approaches to support people in developing skills and strategies that are practical and creative. I am drawn towards working alongside individuals, as well as families and all members of a relationship.

Before I was a counsellor, I worked for 16 years within the school system supporting students and their families navigating complex learning needs and neurodiversity as well as facilitating an early childhood family drop in program. I bring these experiences with me into my counselling practise.

I see people as experts in their own lives and it is important to me to work collaboratively alongside folks.

In my personal life, I live in the woods on Galiano Island with my partner and our three children. I love kayaking, dancing, textile art of all kinds, messing around with my forge, and reading a good book. I am a cis female (she/they), able-bodied, white person who was born in Northern England and emigrated to Canada with my family as a young child. I experience neurodiversity in the form of ADHD, a complex learning profile, and anxiety. I also parent children who experience neurodiversity in various ways.

I strive towards anti-oppressive, social justice oriented practices, and also recognize that this is the ongoing work of listening and learning and unlearning. I am located within the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the Lamalcha, Penelekut, and Hwlitsum First Nations, other Hul’qumi’num’ speaking peoples, and the ceded territory of the Tsawwassen First Nation.
